  • Megger Raises Close to $4,000 for Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation
  • Annual distributor/customer golf event honors 17 year old cancer graduate

Norristown, Pa, -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Megger, one of the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of test equipment and measuring instruments for electrical power applications, raised close to $4,000 for Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation on Saturday, January 25 at its 13th annual Megger Distributor Golf Event. The outing, which took place at the Lakes of Ahawatukee Golf Course in Phoenix, Arizona, is held each year in honor of 17 year old cancer graduate, Tyler Danner.

David Danner, national distribution manager for Megger, who co-coordinates the event with Mike Palmer, western regional distribution sales manager, said, “The weather was picture perfect. 118 golfers took part in the event. Each year we are truly humbled and amazed by the support we get. It is heartwarming to see so many come out and support our cause.”

Danner’s 17 year old daughter, Tyler, was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma over six years ago. She underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatments at PCH and is now cancer-free. “Arranging and executing this golf outing and then donating the proceeds from the event is our way of giving back to PCH and saying thank you,” explains Danner. “Megger makes that possible for my family. It’s amazing.”

The event, which is hosted by the Megger US distribution team, authorized distributors, customers, employees and representatives from Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation donates the money raised to the hospital in lieu of awarding prizes. “Megger donated close to $4,000 to the hospital this year. That was $1,000 more than last year. We were able to raise $2,000 through the 50/50 Raffle. Denise Wittstock, who won the raffle, selflessly donated half of her winnings back to the hospital and Mike Zielinski, owner of IEC Supply, a Megger distributor, donated $400,” said Danner.

An additional $750 was donated to the Phoenix Girls’ Choir through the sale of mulligans. The Girls’ Choir also raffled off a popcorn basket donated by Popcornopolis, which generated an additional $150. The basket was won by Nicole Van Wert.

“A 2014 Nissan Altima from Larry H. Miller Nissan Mesa was up for grabs at the 12th Hole for getting a hole-in-one at 165 yards. Unfortunately, no one got lucky,” said Danner.

This year’s winning team was led by Rich Olendese of Lanyap Networks.

Peg Houck, marketing manager for Megger US distribution said, “We are always so amazed at the overwhelming support and generosity from our customers, employees and vendors. We appreciate everyone’s support for this event.”
