LONDON, June 04, 2014 -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Spitalfields Music Summer Festival brings together world class artists and local people to celebrate music in all its forms. The festival transforms the iconic and hidden spaces of east London through a range of quirky and diverse musical experiences.
The festival offers over forty different musical events, from contemporary and classical music to jazz and folk. Performed at an array of contrasting venues, the festival's diverse programme has brought music to Tower Hamlets since 1976, and this year, music lovers are again spoilt for choice. A sample of the programme shows just how eclectic the festival is: visitors are invited to climb into Folk in a Box for an intimate, one-to-one performance from a surprise artist, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment play at Shoreditch Church, the Seavaigers ensemble bring a fresh perspective on Scottish music, and Wilton's Music Hall hosts the 5-piece minimalist folk collective, Firefly Burning. Adventurous fans of classical music can visit Toynbee Studios to watch Death Actually, an irreverent and invigorating celebration of death. The festival organisers have also put together a number of talks and debates, walks and visits, and interactive workshops. For example, Uluzululalia allows children aged 6-11 to experiment with and invent new sounds and how to explore the sounds their voices can make and the science behind it. There are numerous cheap London hotels in the East End so music lovers can stay in the area for several nights and enjoy the eclectic mix of shows and events on offer.
The festival will run from 6th to 21st of June 2014. Visit LondonTown.com for more information on the festival and about Spitalfields.
