LONDON, July 08, 2014 -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- One of the most exciting new London restaurants opening this summer is undoubtedly LIMA Floral. It's older sister simply called LIMA first opened its doors back in August 2012, going on to become the first Peruvian restaurant in Europe to win a Michelin star.

The coveted star wasn't the only accolade awarded to LIMA's founder Virgilio Martinez in 2013. His flagship establishment Central Restaurante located in the Peruvian capital from which the LIMA project takes its name was featured in last year's World's 50 Best Restaurants.

So Martinez and his partners Gabriel and Jose Luis Gonzalez, we can safely say, have form when it comes to pleasing international diners, and their brace of London restaurants have taken their place among the city's finest venues.

For the uninitiated, Peruvian cuisine is an exciting mix of Amazonian fish dishes, scallops and chia ceviche, served with exotic native vegetables and grains like kohlrabi and quinoa. LIMA Floral is complemented by a basement piqueos bar' which, according to Martinez, is essentially a bar serving tapas dishes

The small plates available in the piqueo bar include grouper with rocoto tiger's milk ceviche and tuna and seared aubergine tiradito. These delicacies are offset by an extravagant, extensive cocktail menu which features variations on the classic Peruvian beverage Pisco Sour.

Both restaurant and piqueo bar are designed by B3, whose other London restaurants projects include Gymkhana and Bubbledogs. Their vision is an international take on Peruvian styles, all large arched windows and cosy dens, the perfect setting for a long, lazy dinner.

LIMA Floral is located on the corner of Garrick Street and Floral Street, set in a historic former monastery (which was most recently home to The Forge restaurant). Both the piqeuos bar and the main restaurant open on July 20.
