Paso Robles, CA, December 02, 2014 -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- CCSD Sport Event, a division of Cycling Camp San Diego (CCSD) has today announced that it is acquiring the Great Western Bicycle Rally, a 4-day cycling festival that takes place in Paso Robles, CA each Memorial Day Weekend.

The Great Western Bicycle Rally, a 4-day gathering of cyclists from all over the USA, has taken place annually for the last 50 years. Currently held at the Paso Robles Fairgrounds it attracts all types of bicyclists from families with small children to avid cyclists looking for a challenge.

The Rally features various cycling activities from a kids bike ‘roadeo’, through to a time trial and hill climb competition. On Saturday women cyclists gather to take part in the fully supported Velo de Femme and on Sunday riders come from all over California to take part in the Century ride offered by the Great Western Bicycle Rally.

The Rally has had various owners in the past, being handed from one passionate owner to another to add their own personal touches. For the past three years Chris and Angie Merrill have been the owners and they have worked hard to create great relationships with the local community and add new activities to the Rally.

Robert Panzera of CCSD said, “we are delighted to take ownership of the Great Western Bicycle Rally. It’s an event we have participated in for a number of years and we’re very excited to add the CCSD touch to the event and continue to foster the great relationships with the local Paso Robles community that Chris and Angie have developed”.

The 2015 Rally will be offering a chance for local vendors, artisan food companies, wineries and breweries to showcase their product on Friday and Saturday evening, with a limited number of free vendor spots at the expo for local companies. The Mayor of Paso Robles will be officially opening the Great Western Bike Rally on Friday evening and there will be food trucks and a ‘Velo Give’ booth where you may donate or purchase used cycling gear. All profits from the Velo Give will go to the Challenged Athletes Foundation.
