Virginia is home to dozens of cycling events each year and generates millions of dollars in spending. Stimulating event interest is an important way to help sustain the economy of the state. The calendar provides a gateway to information on tours, fundraiser rides, races, festivals, education, and other biking activities.

“Bike events have a vast tourism potential for Virginia’s economy,” says Dr. Kim Perry, Executive Director of Bike Virginia, “this new portal will help strengthen interest in all the great things going on in the Commonwealth.”

The Bike Virginia Tour, one tour out of dozens of events held in the state each year generates nearly $3 Million dollars in spending each June with its annual tour hosting 1,800 participants for 6 days. A new host region is benefit of this economic gain each year as the tour moves to new locations. Other events are held in the same community each year and have repeat tourist traffic.
