New York, NY, April 24, 2015 -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Kidd Cole has added another layer to his budding relationship besides being the step son of singer Lil Mo. The Maryland Native producer is officially an artist on Island Records imprint, joining a roster that includes American Authors, Calvin Harris and more.

After signing a production contract with Island Records earlier in the year, this new step is "a blessing" the producer tells BET.com. "I can't complain, I'm enjoying it."

Now that he has a record deal, a studio release is in the works, but it's not next on the agenda. Instead, Cole says he's started work on a "couple of songs" for his debut installment of his 1995 mixtape, due out next year. "I can do whatever I want basically," he explains. "It's not like they [Island Records] have super control. They just letting me get a feel for what I'm doing and stuff like that."

Aside from personal music projects, the 20-year-old — known for appering on mtv has switched things up—sonically for a collaboration with YG and Ty Dolla Sign. Accoridng to YG this has been in the works.

"I just want to prove everyone who doubted me wrong and show my musical ability," he assures. "I got DJ Mustard who I deal with a lot to come in and play like the piano, and I did all the drums, every since that over exaggerated show came on televison I had to rekindle my image. God has truley been good.

The future will bring similar collaborations, Cole hopes. "I plan on doing it all. I wanna score movies…there's nothing that I don't wanna do," he says, adding, "But right now, I'm real focused on the music side."
