LONDON, October 16, 2015 -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- CESG has recently appointed Risk Factory Ltd as a Cyber Essentials Certification Body to carry out Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus evaluations and certify organisations which comply with the requirements of the scheme.

Risk Factory is now a Cyber Essentials Certification Body (CB) authorised to evaluate and certify companies against the HMG Cyber Essentials scheme in the United Kingdom.

“The Cyber Essentials scheme provides small and medium sized businesses with clarity on good basic cyber security practice. By focusing on basic cyber hygiene, companies will be better protected from the most common cyber threats” said Risk Factory Director, Richard Hollis.

Cyber Essentials certification is mandatory for central government contracts advertised after 1 October 2014 which involve handling personal information and providing certain ICT products and services. The Cyber Essentials scheme has been developed as part of the United Kingdom’s National Cyber Security Programme in close consultation with industry.

“Risk Factory is the perfect company to serve as a certification body. We understand SME information security pain. We understand their challenges and limitations” emphasises Hollis. “They need to put their limited resources where they will have the biggest impact. These days businesses need to get every penny out of their security spend and we’ve been showing SME’s how to do this for over a decade. A Cyber Essentials Certification Body fits us like a glove” said Hollis.
