(Brookfield, CT) -You don't have to look far to find examples of power abuse in our
society and most people accept the misuse and abuse of power under the guise of many
things. leadership, caring, discipline, teaching or something that can't be changed.
From the politician accused of sending sexual emails to a page, to the priests
accused of molesting children in their care; how people sometimes use power and the
complacent societal attitude can make it dangerous.

Judith Barr, author of Power Abused, Power Healed, uses a fresh approach to educate
and inform about power abuse. She believes power is a gift that comes with a
personal responsibility to act appropriately. Barr contends if we only look at this
issue from the outside, we feed the problems instead of healing them from within.
Her adaptation of the popular Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale "The Emperor's New
Clothes" creates a foundation for the stories and the teachings throughout the book.

Barr explores a variety of relationships and contexts that can result in power
abuse: from parent/child, to therapist/client to a governor and his daughter and the
impact of it on his state. A special section called 'Here and Now' makes healing
personal for readers as Barr invites them to examine their own feelings and thoughts
about each story.

Unlike other books on the topic, Power Abused, Power Healed addresses both victims
of power abuse and those who misuse and abuse their power. Barr points out that
"power, like lightning is a raw, vibrant force of nature. with the potential for
great harm and the possibility for magnificent good."

Judith Barr has a background that includes private practice as a depth
psychotherapist since 1975, a Master of Science degree in Counseling, and licensure
as a Mental Health Counselor. She is considered an expert in her field. She has
published an audio series, The Spoken Word on Behalf of the Feminine, and more than
two dozen articles for both professionals and the general public. Barr offers her
healing expertise in an array of formats, including working with individuals,
groups, workshops, and consultations. Learn more at: www.PowerAbusedPowerHealed.com
