Press Release Body: KANSAS CITY, MO. (October 24, 2007) - Portable storage containers are chameleons of sorts. They can easily blend in with the facility grounds. It\'s just a matter of knowing how to dress them for the occasion. With Halloween night coming up, it\'s more important than ever to make sure your containers are safe and secure.
The National Portable Storage Association, or NPSA, a nonprofit membership association dedicated to the advancement of the portable storage industry, is offering a YouTube video called \"Community & Safety Guidelines\" full of tips for business owners who want to disguise their on-site containers and help keep their communities safe and secure.
You can paint the container to match its surroundings, for example, place the unit along the fence line behind your building, and even flank it between trees for some creative camouflage. Wherever you keep it, keep the unit free from graffiti. \"If your container falls victim to graffiti or vandalism of some sort, act quickly to remedy it,\" said John Finnessy, CMP, Executive Director the National Portable Storage Association. \"Keeping some extra paint on hand makes it quick and easy to rid the container of the graffiti and will let vandals know that their \'works of art\' won\'t remain long.\"
It\'s also important to keep the container locked in between your visits to retrieve the items inside, according to NPSA Representative Karl Obertik. \"First of all, keeping the container locked prevents theft of your goods. Secondly, you don\'t want any unauthorized people entering in the container,\" he explains. \"Finally, if you have children playing, you can prevent accidental lock-ins.\"
Those were some \"dos.\" Here\'s a \"don\'t.\" Don\'t store anything on top of your portable storage container. If someone walks by and the item falls on them, they could get injured. That may be a liability for your organization. The good news is there\'s plenty of room inside the container for storage. \"If you follow these guidelines,\" Obertik says, \"you are well on your way to enjoying the container while minimizing its impact on the community.\"
