Press Release Body: Global insurance broker Aon has appointed Cameron Little as business development consultant in a brand new role based in Glasgow.
Cameron will be working with companies in Scotland and the north of England to advise on managing the risks which influence the breadth of cover and cost of their insurance programmes. He will also assess the alternative ways to control or transfer risk, such as through captives.
Cameron, who played professional rugby union for Glasgow in the late 1990s, said: "Managing risk to support your organisational objectives or control threats is just as important to a fledging SME or a multinational corporation. Risk management is fundamental to good business practice by helping to recognise and react to business opportunities, as well as protecting against the impact of risks such as terrorism, fire or safety.
"It also demonstrates to insurers and investors that the business is proactive in dealing with potential losses and claims, which in turn will bring about more competitive premiums. We're in a soft market so we can negotiate good deals for our clients but in the long term, working with insurers now means you'll benefit when rates start to increase."
Before joining Aon, Cameron spent seven years with Marsh. His roles included development and delivery of risk management advice and solutions to clients in the UK and Europe in a variety of industry sectors.
Cameron has specialised in property loss control, safety and security and business continuity planning, in addition to business risk solutions such as risk profiling, risk financing, project risk management and corporate risk management.
Cameron's recent projects include:
* developing a risk management framework for a European telecoms company; * conducting operational and asset risk reviews for a religious organisation; * devising a safety management programme for a UK based hotel group, and: * developing a risk identification exercise to produce a risk register for a UK airport.
Cameron has a degree in risk management and is a member of the Institute of Risk Management and the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.
Aon UK is ranked by A.M. Best as the number one global insurance brokerage based on brokerage revenues and voted best insurance intermediary, offering classic car insurance, high value home insurance, entertainment and media liability insurance and construction insurance.
