Release Body: November 5, 2007 - Atlanta, Ga., Montreal and Sheffield,
UK – Vector Networks today announced PC-Duo
version 11, marking a transition completion of its popular
remote control software solution to a more flexible and Internet-oriented
architecture.
The
addition of support for SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) authentication
and an extension to the way in which remotely supported PCs interact
with the Gateway server, together enable remote control connections
to be easily established with PCs behind firewalls. Support staff
can now reach out to users at a different corporate location, in
a WiFi zone in an airport or hotel, or simply behind a personal
firewall at a supported user’s home. This functionality is
of vital importance to enable efficient support services for today’s
increasingly mobile workforce.
Encryption
options have also been enhanced with the addition of 256-bit AES,
and the PC-Duo Enterprise Gateway now supports
a range of encryption options from Triple
DES
through 128, 192 and 256-bit AES. With high-level encryption and
the SSL implementation, PC-Duo v11 presents a robust and secure
method for remotly controlling users’ PCs and laptops without
using a third-party Web server.
“The
simplicity of use of the new platform will be a powerful attraction
for organizations needing to implement a remote control solution
quickly and with minimum training requirements, said Colin Bartram,
VP Technology of Vector Networks.
“System
and security administrators will find the Gateway’s support
for security policy definition both powerful and easy to work with
– including the connection to Active Directory OUs.“
PC-Duo’s
new Gateway can be deployed in multiple locations to provide redundancy,
and can be viewed and administered remotely. Administrators and
security specialists can view
real-time connection information, review remote control security
profiles, review remote control activity logs, and play back actual
remote control sessions.
PC-Duo
v11 is priced from USD $234 for a 1-Master 1-Host pack and includes
one year of support. Volume pricing and site licenses are available.
A free 30-day trial download of PC-Duo is available at www.vector-networks.com.
Vector Networks plans to make the new version available
later this month.
