Press Release Summary: npower business announces new opportunities for small businesses to cut their energy use with the e3 online energy service

Press Release Body: npower business is giving small businesses new opportunities to cut their energy use and potentially save money on their bills with the e3 online energy service.

The e3 website provides advice and guidance to help small businesses reduce their energy consumption and cut CO2 emissions. The website now also gives customers access to discounts on energy saving equipment from online retailer Earthwhile. Any business buying Earthwhile energy saving devices can enjoy a discount of up to 20%.

“Many businesses want to save energy to help manage costs and reduce emissions, but need support to cut consumption without compromising day to day operations. Saving energy can be simple and e3 is all about providing support to make it easier for businesses to achieve energy savings by giving them the power to implement measures how and where they want to,” explained Ray McGloin, Head of Sales at npower business.

Just some of the energy saving tools available include lighting control systems, which can reduce energy consumption by as much as 30%; the intelli-Plug, designed to switch off all devices connected to a PC when the user logs off; and the e-cube, which controls refrigerator temperatures to stop them using excess energy.

With SMEs making up 90% of UK businesses, they have an important role to play in helping to reduce the country’s carbon emissions. npower’s own research, the npower Business Energy Index, revealed that 81% of small businesses think reducing CO2 is important, but 43% also said they need advice and guidance about cutting energy consumption to reduce emissions.

“The need to reduce CO2 has been well publicised and businesses are being expected to take action, but the actual advice and tools to achieve reductions has been less forthcoming. With the new e3 website we’re making it easier for small businesses to source the tools to save energy to start making small, but significant changes,” continued Ray.

The Carbon Trust predicts that just a few simple energy saving measures could save small businesses up to 20% on their energy bills and estimates the same businesses are spending £2 billion a year on energy that could be saved.

“A number of our customers are already making energy savings using the e3 advice and products. Other businesses could start enjoying the same benefits simply by logging on to e3,” Ray added.
