Dave Katragadda is the founder of The Seven Hills Group, an investment firm with
diversified public and private equity holdings across education, financial services,
healthcare, media & entertainment, and technology sectors. Dave has been one of
top-performing individual hedge-fund managers in the US for the past decade.
Dave co-founded, invested in, and managed Smart Software, a financial data analytics
company in 1994. The Company, one of only four such service providers worldwide
then, grew to 1000 people in 5 years, following which it was acquired by McGraw Hill
(subsidiary of Standard & Poors).
Over the past decade, Dave formulated a unique options trading strategy for public
equity markets. Applying this trading strategy, Dave invested in public equities
trading on the US Stock Exchanges and returned a few thousand times the initial
investment, making him one of the best performing individual hedge-fund managers in
the US.
Dave formed the Seven Hills Group in 2004, a private hedge fund investing in public
and private equity opportunities. Since 2004, Seven Hills Group has invested in more
than a dozen portfolio companies in India and the United States, including 212Media
, Lightspeed Audio (Web 2.0), Miasole (Alternate Energy), Phatphish (Media &
Entertainment), and Quartics (Semiconductors).
The Seven Hills Group also launched the Katragadda Innovative Trust for Education
(KITE) to establish corporate training centers and academic institutes for IT
education in India. KITE is pioneering a novel educational mandate that emphasizes
comprehensive training across academic, corporate and social paradigms, and intends
to progress into a private University in the coming years.
Dave is currently the Chairman of the US-Asia Business Forum, is a member of the
Board of Directors of 212 Media, BodVod, Lightspeed Audio, Good Samaritan Hospital,
is a Board Observer of Quartics, and is a part of Clinton Global Initiative. Dave
holds an MS in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Southern California, an
MS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from University of Alabama, and BS in
Chemical Engineering from Andhra University, India.
