The hills, mountains and fells of the Scottish countryside
this year form the spectacular backdrop for one of the running sector’s
most popular and gruelling events. The Caterans 55 will this year take
place on 21st May and is expected to see many hundreds of people
heading into the quaint Scottish town of Aviemore to enjoy the event.
As such, leading online hotel room booking website DirectRooms.com advises people
heading into town to book their accommodation before arriving to avoid
disappointment. The hotel which forms the start of the run, the Spittal of Glenshee
Hotel, is in particular expected to be booked up quickly in advance of the race day
itself.
With many of the distance running sport’s competitors heading to Scotland to test
themselves against this truly demanding course, Aviemore can expect a bumper few
days for its tourist trade either side of the race.
The course this year has been set to test runners with climbs of up to 7,500 feet in
the nearby mountains - enough to test even the fittest and most experienced long
distance, cross country and fell runners.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: “This year’s Caterans 55
race is expected to attracts all runners from throughout Europe. So to be sure of
getting hold of good value hotels in Aviemore we advise online comparison and then early booking to avoid paying too
much or missing out altogether.”
