Rebecca Adlington, Liam Tancock and Ellie Simmonds are among Great Britain's top swimmers who will be competing in the British Gas Swimming Championships 2012 to secure their place on Team GB so they can compete at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Held in the Aquatics Centre at the Olympic Park in Stratford, from 3rd to 10th March 2012, this exciting swimming event gives audiences the chance to see Olympic standard swimmers in the pool prior to the main event in July and for those coming from outside of London, the website LondonTown.com offers a wide selection of cheap London hotels to choose from with information on transport links from your hotel to the Olympic site.

With tickets to the 2012 Olympics events being so difficult to get hold of, sports fans will be pleased to have this chance to see double Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington defending her 400m Freestyle title, and witness the hotly-anticipated showdown between Ellen Gandy, Fran Halsall and Jemma Lowe in the women's 100m Butterfly final.

Other highlights include IPC world champion Jonathan Fox who aims to break his S7 100m Backstroke world record and seal his place at London 2012, and a head-to-head battle between Michael Jamieson, Kris Gilchrist and Andrew Willis in the men's 100 metre Breaststroke final.

For spectators who failed to snap up tickets for London 2012, the British Gas Swimming Championships is an ideal opportunity to get a slice of pre-Olympic action and check out the London 2012 Olympic Park in the process. For most British swimmers, too, it will be their first taste of the new Olympic pool inside of Zaha Hadid's slick new Aquatics Centre.
