-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- In good old-fashioned British tradition beacons will be lit across the world this June to mark Queen Elizabeth's II Diamond Jubilee. The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Beacons takes place on 4 June and will be the largest network of beacons the world has ever seen, with more than 4,000 beacons being lit from Canada to Scotland. The event culminates in London as the Queen lights the National Beacon in Buckingham Palace at 10.30pm. All across the capital beacons will be lit at the city's most iconic landmarks, including the battlements of The Tower of London, St. James' Park and Lambeth Palace.

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Beacons takes place on the first of two Bank Holidays to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Thanks to the addition of a second Bank Holiday, the UK now has a four-day weekend stretching from 2-5 June. This is the perfect excuse to take a holiday in the capital and enjoy all the festivities.
