Singer Songwriter TyLean Releases Avant-Horror Album

Paterna, Valencia, Spain, January 19, 2016 — /EPR NETWORK/ — Singer songwriter TyLean – former Attrition vocalist – has released an album of “Avant-Horror” to add something unusual to the new year, sardonically titled, “Best Before Never.”

The Body Copy: TyLean’s album is not your typical concept of music. The album is more closely akin to a foray into performance art than any attempt to provide an enjoyable listening experience. Usually recognized as a strange-girl-with-a-piano artist, TyLean has forsaken the piano for a predominantly a’cappella album. But don’t let the term a’cappella conjure up an idea of madrigals and English ballads… the performances on this album are an exercise in the limits of human noise-making, and many of the vocals emanating from the singer are hardly recognizable as a human voice.

“I was in labour with my second child and still working on final mixes,” the singer says, referring to “Crudos Mulieres,” a three movement a’cappella that substitutes lyrics with screaming and high pitched wails combined with angelic cooing. The title in Latin means “The Gore of Women.” “I was still trying to decide on what to name the three individual tracks when we were in the taxi on the way to the hospital.” Appropriately, the second movement was named “Intra Urinas et Faeces Nascimur” which means, we are born between urine and feces. The three tracks are all expressions of different aspects of the trials and tribulations of being female.

Other tracks on the album include a remastered version of her previously released “cello rape song” titled “Rosalyn,” and a sound design piece titled “Death Net Swaddling,” which comes across as an intense horror-radio performance.

When talking about recording this track, the singer says, “It is probably the purest expression of art I have created yet. I wasn’t even on this planet; I was completely unaware of my own existence and my voice became a vessel for this expression of what it means to be a woman: beauty, pain, strength, gore.”
