French musical ensemble Les Arts Florissants come to town for one night only

-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- The Barbican is having a fine old festive time this year, with a distinctly European feel to its events, from cinema to art to theatre.

After the acrobatics of Les Goudrons et des Plumes, returning as part of the London International Mime Festival, at the end of November, the City-based arts centre is also welcoming musical excellence from across the channel.

For one night only, renowned French baroque musical ensemble Les Arts Florissants will be playing at the Barbican, on Thursday December 13th. The group will be performing Handel's famous oratoria Belshazzar.

A tale of biblical grandeur, the story tells of the fall of Babylon at the hands of Cyrus the great, and the consequent liberation of the Jewish nation. It's a big subject, and will be filling the grand Barbican Hall a fitting setting.

Classical music fans will be excited to hear that LondonTown.com, the UK's favourite independent website for London, has some great solutions for accommodation in the city. If you are looking for a central but well-priced hotel in London, the site can offer some very reasonable deals near the Barbican area.

A double room at the Club Quarters St Paul's hotel comes in at £169 for the night of December 13th within easy walking distance of the Barbican (or a very short taxi ride if it's a bit nippy!).

Alternatively get a serviced apartment at 66 Turnmill Street Apartments for £167 on the Thursday night, located a little more central and very close to the restaurants and bars of Clerkenwell.
