LOS ANGELES, CA, -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- The last thing that writer/director Jim Makichuk ever imagined was the return of GHOSTKEEPER; his first feature film made in 1980.The supernatural thriller came and went in the early 1980s. But around 2005 Jim learned that some German horror fans found VHS copies of the movie and thus began a cult following. Soon British horror writers asked for interviews and in 2011 distributor Code Red discovered two 35mm prints in a New York storage unit.

This eventually led to a 30th Anniversary DVD in 2012. Jim rounded up actors Murray Ord and Riva Spier and 86-year old GEORGIE COLLINS, a legendary theater actor from Alberta, Canada. A commentary track was included along with an interview with Georgie Collins and cameraman John Holbrook. But it didn’t end there.

In 2013 GHOSTKEEPER fans and friends encouraged Jim to write a new screenplay, some suggested a remake and others a new story. Jim came up with a unique story that would use both the original cast from 1980 as well as a new younger cast in GHOSTKEEPER 2 (NEVER GO BACK). The original movie was based on the “Windigo”, a mythical Native Indian creature that haunted wilderness parts of Canada.

The present-day story is simple; the original cast of 1980 will play themselves 33 years later and have come back to the DEER LODGE HOTEL for a reunion. But as the story begins, things begin to happen that reflect the original 1980 story and when two of the original cast disappear it begins to reflect the past as flashbacks fill in the story. To add another element, a Native Indian trapper appears from a raging snowstorm and suggests that the Windigo does exist and that they are all trapped inside with nowhere to run or hide. Thus the new movie becomes both a remake and sequel. Jim, along with producer Joe Thornton will fund the feature on Kickstarter.com.
