The Investec First Test Match between England and the West Indies to start on May 17that Lord’s.

-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- The England cricket team will start this year's season with a test match against the West Indies on May 17th, with the action from Lord's playing out over the following four days.

With the aim of helping travelling cricket fans find a conveniently located and affordable London hotel, the capital's top booking and information website LondonTown.com is providing a number of discounts on selected rooms close to Lord's.

England are set to play just six home test matches in 2012, with half of them against the West Indies and the other half against South Africa. The matches come with England in pole position in the global rankings, having decisively seen off India last summer with 4-0 victory.

The cricket world has marveled at the rise of the side, who have emerged literally from the Ashes and their mid-noughties nadir. Led by coach Andy Flower and captain Andrew Strauss, the team is packed with some of the greatest talent the country has ever seen. With the West Indies a far cry from their 80s glory days, most cricket fans expect a convincing England win.

English confidence may, however, have been slightly dented by a less convincing winter season which saw an underwhelming 1-1 draw against Sri Lanka followed by a 3-0 defeat to Pakistan. The team will keen to shrug off their winter blues and rediscover the triumphant form of last summer.

Among the hotels in London on offer via the LondonTown.com website is the Montagu Place Hotel London, which is providing a 69% discount on its petite double rooms, bringing the nightly rate down to £90. The hotel is on Montagu Place, around a twenty minute walk from Lord's.

The Hotel Indigo London Paddington is just as close and is currently offering a double room for £91 per night, an 89% discount on the usual cost.
