Kashmir ‘wins’ in Algoworks’ Independence Day Celebrations

NOIDA, India, 2019-Aug-23 — /EPR Network/ — To celebrate this year’s Independence Day, Algoworks organized an internal contest for its 400 members strong family, where ‘Team Oregano’ won the Sandwich Making Contest adjudged by the well-renowned chef Shankar Dey.

The 15th August of every year is celebrated as the Independence Day in India to commemorate the independence of India from the British. Every year, Algoworks strives to combine creativity with patriotism. The team event organized by Algoworks for 71st Independence Day was ‘Algoworks Chef Squad – A Sandwich / Salad Making Contest’. The special guest and esteemed judge, Chef Shankar Dey, hand-picked three of the best culinary teams. The dishes were to be judged on various criteria of creativity, presentation, taste, hygiene, and teamwork.

Since the disclosing of this year’s Independence day event, Algoworks employees formed teams to plan and scheme their ideas for a delicious sandwich. The contestants were asked to prepare their dish during competition hours by assembling the pre-cooked ingredients and preparing a sandwich or salad to present it to the judge.

The guest judge for the event was Chef Shankar Dey, a seasoned chef who has worked with Radisson Blu, The Lalit, Crowne Plaza, and Hilton groups in the past years. All the teams performed their best to win the competition and impress the chef by their culinary skills and creativity. The chef tasted all the delicious and mouth-watering sandwiches and salads.

One hour was the time allotted to each time to prepare their dishes. While the decoration and presentation from all teams were extremely entertaining for a sandwich presentation, the simplest decorated sandwich won the contest, almost ironically. Chef Shankar Dey said, “Where they beat the rest was in the freshness in each bite with the hygiene and a tidy presentation, despite great idea behind it. Justifying the ‘Italian’ name through tastes, and paying tribute to Kashmir’s situation on this event, this team’s simplistic presentation was more about elegance, which in turn also turned in their favor’. Team OREGANO (Lavish Gupta, Rupal Kakkar, Mariam Bijli, Lakshay Khandelwal, Anil Kumar, and Suchana Naskar) named their sandwich “Joey’s Special Sandwich”. The first runner-up was Team MUSHROOM (Preeti, Bhaskar, Shubham, Manju) and the second runner-up was Team Olive Oil (Anshul Sharma, Shefali Garg, Shubham Bansal, Megha Gaur, Himanshu Gera, Manish Attri). The event was wrapped up with a fun get together including some delicious snacks and a cheerful group photo session where Algoworks family wished happy independence day to each other.
