Joe Sal releases new single ‘She-Cat’ feat. David Jackson

MILAN, Italy, 2019-Oct-21 — /EPR Network/ — The songwriter and producer of alt-rock known as Joe Sal has released his latest official single, “She-Cat.” The single has been proudly published as an independent release without the involvement of the corporate music industry. In addition to the skills of Sal, himself, “She-Cat” also features sax performances by David Jackson of The Van Der Graaf Generator fame. While this is the first fully fledged recording of the track, it also appears on Sal’s popular “Live at Scimmie” solo EP (2014) which continues to garner fame. Jazzy, bluesy, and with plenty of feline swagger, “She-Cat” showcases Joe Sal as one of Italy’s premier rock singers and guitarists.

Milan’s Giorgio “Joe Sal” Salati cites as main artistic influences Chris Cornell, Jeff Buckley, Stevie Wonder, and interestingly, Andrew Lloyd Webber. His own sound has most in common with Cornell, particularly in the vocal department. Rock fans will be hard-pressed to decide whether Sal is primarily a singer or primarily a guitarist. Sponsored by both LOUD Guitars and DG Amps & Pedals, he’s all geared up but can occasionally sound best as a simple singer-songwriter. With an emphasis on strong songwriting, solid riff work and raw, natural, gritty vocals, “She-Cat” by Joe Sal has a little something for every alt-rock fan.

Asked to describe the overall meaning of “She-Cat,” Joe Sal writes, “People think that cats are selfish animals, but it’s not that true.”

If you’re not buying it right away, don’t worry. Sal’s got logic behind his claim:

“They stay locked up all day in our houses, getting bored and waiting for their beloved humans. In the evening the humans come back home, have dinner, watch TV and then go to sleep, so their cats get bored again all night long. Maybe our cats love us more than we love them. That’s the reason for the sad mood of this song, which talks about a female cat waiting all the time for a little attention from his beloved man.”

Joe Sal has been playing original music since the nineties when his older brother, Ettori Salati (The Watch, Alex Carpani Band, RedZen, SoulEngine) taught him the pentatonic scale. By 1999, he’d started fronting a trio, KickStart. They produced an LP, 2003’s “Fuel,” and a single, “I Am Free,” in 2006. In addition to festival appearances, they were featured in magazines and on radio and TV shows. Sal went solo in 2012, and was soon offered a collaboration project with David Jackson of the UK’s Van Der Graaf Generator. The next four years saw him touring worldwide and performing vocals on two Alex Carpani Band LPs, “4 Destinies” and “So Close So Far,” which also featured brother Ettore Salati and Van Der Graaf Generator’s David Jackson, as well as Bologna’s famed prog-rocker Alex Carpani on keys.

Besides his aforementioned solo record, “Live at Scimmie,” his most prominent material appeared in the form of singles, “No Lies” (2018) and “I Belong to the Sun” (2019).

She-Cat sounds a bit different from the previous alternative rock oriented singles. The sound of S-C is jazzy and acoustic, and mr David Jackson’s saxophones is the extra gear that makes the song fly.
