CEE to Host STEM Educator Summit

This exciting event will offer free professional development and networking for high school STEM educators.

McLean, Va., USA, 2026-04-03 — /EPR Network/ — The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE), Co-Sponsored by the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, will host “Inspiring the Next Generation: A STEM Educator Summit” on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Courtyard Marriott Tyson’s Corner located at 1960-A Chain Bridge Road, McLean, Virginia. This exciting event will offer free professional development and networking for high school STEM educators.

Distinguished guest speakers:

Dr. William (Bill) Hazel, Jr. is a physician, educator, and leader in STEM and workforce development who is CEO of Claude Moore Opportunities. He is a former Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Resources. He earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Princeton University and an M.D. from Duke University, finishing his orthopedic residency at the Mayo Clinic. He was an orthopedic surgeon, was an Assistant surgeon for the Washington Redskins, and was the team physician for D.C. United soccer club.

Dr. Po-Shen Loh is a professor of mathematics at Carnegie Mellon University, an award-winning educator, and the former coach of the United States International Mathematical Olympiad team. He is recognized for his efforts to make advanced mathematics and problem solving accessible to students and educators. He earned a B.S. in Mathematics at Caltech, an M.S. in Mathematics at the University of Cambridge, and a PhD in Mathematics from Princeton.

CEE will be offering attendance certificates for those interested.

This event will provide a space for Virginia educators to gain information to take back into their classrooms. The program includes a panel of educators discussing how they currently use AI in their classrooms and what the future of AI in education may look like, along with an exhibit hall highlighting STEM resources. Come and get recharged with information for students. Educators please register in advance online.
