Hotels-Paris.co.uk - Andre Kertesz Exhibition Opens In Paris

Fans of the photographer Andre Kertesz are sure to visit Jeu de Paume when they hear that a retrospective of his work is on display there.

It is not just the images he produced that will be on show at this exhibition - which runs until February 6th 2011 - but also documents relating to his life.

Jeu de Paume claims that this is the first time a "proper retrospective" of the Budapest-born photographer has taken place in Europe.

The venue described how this display is intended to add context to many of his photos, highlighting recurring themes and analysing his work.

This means that the collection will no doubt be just as fascinating for guests at hotels in Paris who have seen Kertesz's work many times as it would be to a photography novice who has never encountered his distinctive style.

"He is one of the most important photographers of the 20th century, both for the richness of his body of work and for the sheer longevity of his career," a representative from the arts space remarked.

It is not just the artistic creations of Kertesz that visitors can see at Jeu de Paume, since the building is also currently hosting a new piece by Tomo Savic-Gecan.

Opening hours at the arts space are from 12:00 to 21:00 local time on Tuesdays, 12:00 to 19:00 from Wednesday to Friday and 10:00 until 19:00 at the weekends. It is closed on Mondays.

Admission costs €7 (£6).
