Be ready for a little change in XAT

Dr Vishwa Ballabh, admission chairperson, XLRI told MBAUniverse.com that XAT 2014 will carry a few changes in test pattern as compared to XAT 2013...

According to the XAT officials, the General Knowledge (GK) section which was added to XAT last year only, will now be part of the main paper. Last year, the GK section was introduced into part-II of the test which earlier had Essay Writing as its only feature. Accordingly, the duration of the main paper will also be increased to accommodate the GK questions.

Dr Vishwa Ballabh said that the number of GK questions will also be reduced to around 20-22. Last year, the total number of GK question was 30 and time allotted for the same was 20 min.

Apply separately for XAT and XLRI:

After registering for XAT 2014, you need to separately register for XLRI programmes. XLRI Jamshedpur shortlists its applications based on XAT scores. The registration fee for one programme at XLRI is Rs 1050 and the same for two programmes is Rs 1650. For every additional programme at XLRI, you will have to pay Rs 200 extra.

The application fee for XAT 2014 is Rs 950.

According to the institute, candidates may also choose to apply to XLRI programmes through GMAT scores obtained during December 01, 2011 and December 20, 2013. While the Indian applicants can only apply for PGDM (GMP) and Global MBA programme through GMAT, non-resident Indians can apply for all XLRI programmes using their GMAT scores.
