Toronto, Ontario, November 28, 2014 -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- Rain Diva, the fashion rain hat, secured a deal with Michael Wekerle and Jim Treleving on today’s episode of the Dragon’s Den online. Rain Diva, founded by veteran hairstylist Howard Barr, is a stylish waterproof hat for women that has a unique back that gently covers every strand of hair from bad weather such as rain or snow. Once inside away from the elements the hat folds into itself creating a pouch that fit’s perfectly in a bag or purse.
The product design came from Howard’s experience as a hairdresser in Los Angeles, London, New York and Toronto where women would leave the salon and have their hairstyle ruined by rain, wind or snow. To solve the problem Howard first started offering free umbrella’s to women who came and left the salon, but discovered they would break and not properly protect the hair from wind. After this experience he decided there needed to be a solution and invented Rain Diva.
In hopes of expanding Rain Diva’s reach across Canada Howard Barr pitched his invention on CBC’s Dragon’s Den in hopes to secure a deal (http://www.cbc.ca/dragonsden/pitches/rain-diva). Howard asked the Dragon’s for $50,000 for 20% of his company. The money would be used to boost online sales as well as bring the product into new retailers. After a demonstration of the product and feedback from the Dragons Howard prevailed and struck a deal with Michael and Jim for exactly the amount asked.
Howard Barr released a statement after the airdate stating, “I am so thrilled to have gotten this deal with the Dragon’s and for them to see the value in this company. I invented the Rain Diva because I think that women should be able to live every day to the fullest and not be bogged down by worrying about their hair during rainy days”.
