Beckinsale, Rooker, Firefly Q&As Head Programming At Wizard World Comic Con Austin, Nov. 17-19

AUSTIN, Texas, 2017-Nov-09 — /EPR Network/ — Q&A sessions with standout celebrities Kate Beckinsale (Underworld, Van Helsing), Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy, “The Walking Dead”), the “Firefly” team of Jewel Staite, Sean Maher and Summer Glau, the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” duo of Charisma Carpenter and Emma Caulfield, anime, video games, cosplayer and comics creator sessions, adult and kids costume contests and more highlight the programming offerings at Wizard World Comic Con Austin, Friday through Sunday, November 17-19, at the Austin Convention Center. Most programming is included as part of the standard event admission and is in addition to the live entertainment options (dancing, music, etc.) all weekend.

Some highlights of the more than 50 hours of panels scheduled include:

• Interactive Q&As with Beckinsale (Saturday, 3 p.m.), Rooker (Saturday, 1 p.m.), Holly Marie Combs (“Charmed,” Saturday, 1:30 p.m.), Michael Cudlitz (“The Walking Dead,” Saturday, noon), Steve Blum (“Toonami,” Saturday, 12:30 p.m.), Joe Flanigan (“Stargate: Atlantis,” Sunday, 12:30 p.m.), Jason David Frank (“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” Saturday, 2:30 p.m.), Felicia Day (“Supernatural,” Saturday, 4 p.m.)
• Group sessions with the casts of “Firefly” (Saturday, 5 p.m.), “Buffy” (Sunday, 1:30 p.m.), Clerks/Mallrats (Jason Mewes and Brian O’Halloran, Saturday, 2 p.m.), “Batman: The Animated Series” (Kevin Conroy and Loren Lester, Saturday, 3:30 p.m.) and “WKRP in Cincinnati” (Loni Anderson and Howard Hesseman, Sunday, 11:30 p.m.)
• Disney Trivia panel with Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite, Blades of Glory) and Thomas Ian Nicholas (Rookie of the Year, Saturday, 2:30 p.m.)
• WWE® Superstar sessions featuring Hardy Boyz™ (Saturday, 5:30 p.m.) and Bayley™ (Saturday, 1:30 p.m.)
• Creator-themed hours featuring industry superstars Genese Davis (The Holder’s Dominion), Stina Leicht (“Blackthorne”), Clinton Hobart (licensed Disney fine artist), James Morris (“Catch Fire”), Shawn Coss (“Cyanide & Happiness”), Mostafa Moussa (“Superman”), Victor Dandridge (“The Samaritan”) and more
• Fan-based panels on subjects ranging from podcasting, indie comics, “The Walking Dead,” “Harry Potter,” LGBT superheroes, “Doctor Who” and more
• Kids programming all three days, including story time, face painting, puppet shows, dance parties, magic, learn to draw, (and Kids 10 and under are free every day with paid adult)
• World-famous Wizard World Comic Con Adult Costume Contest, Saturday at 7 p.m. and Kids Costume Contests on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.
• Cosplay with special guests Mogchelle, Nicole Marie Jean, Carl Martin, Robin Johnson Jr., Knightmage and more, throughout the weekend
• Cosplay Workshops (Working with Worbla, Mold Making and Resin Casting) with Mogchelle, require additional ticket

Unless noted, programming events take place in the designated General Programming Rooms or show floor stages at the convention center. VIP tickets or additional costs may apply to ensure access to select activities, as noted.

Wizard World Comic Con events bring together thousands of fans of all ages to celebrate the best in pop culture: movies, television, gaming, live entertainment, comics, sci-fi, graphic novels, toys, original art, collectibles, contests and more. The 14th and final event scheduled on the 2017 Wizard World calendar, Austin show hours are Friday, November 17, 4-9 p.m.; Saturday, November 18, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sunday, November 19, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Kids 10 and under are admitted free with paid adult.

Wizard World Comic Con Austin is also the place for cosplay, with fans young and old showing off their best costumes throughout the event. Fans dressed as every imaginable character – and some never before dreamed – will roam the convention floor and participate in the famed Wizard World Costume Contest on Saturday evening.
