Teleosis Institute Introduces New Team Members for Health and Wellness Coach Training

Berkeley, CA, 2018-Jan-29 — /EPR Network/ — www.teleosis.org, an acclaimed health coach institute announced two new esteemed healers have joined their team. Dr. Ruth Marlin, MD will be teaching Lifestyle Medicine for Health Coaches, and Deanna Jimenez, MFT, has joined the Board of Directors. Both are committed to Teleosis Institute’s program emphasis on teaching professionals to work with life stories in a way that leads to deepening relationship, transformational learning, and authentic healing.

Ruth Marlin, MD was the Associate Director of the Northern California Melanoma Center at St. Mary’s in San Francisco. She worked as the Director of Medical Education and Director of the Prostate Cancer Lifestyle and Geminal Trials, in collaboration with the University of California and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She is a board-certified internist with training from the University of Tennessee, The Mayo Clinic and the University of British Columbia. For 13 years, she worked with Dr. Dean Ornish at the Preventive Medicine Research Institute as a Lifestyle Retreat Physician.

Ruth is an experienced and skilled Health and Wellness Coach, having completed the Teleosis Certification in Narrative Health Coaching. She has been a doctor since age 25 and didn’t really understand healing until she was in her late 30s when she developed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Healing CFS taught her what healing looked and felt like in mind, body and spirit so she began to develop her practice in this way. Ruth’s work purpose is to help people by easing pain and distress and guide them in moving through their challenges. “Being part of Teleosis has been about exploring the inner world; how we experience and interact with it and how it can be used to help us be healthier and happier. I derive much pleasure and satisfaction from seeing someone connect with their inner healing power.”

When Ruth was ready to stop practicing integrative medicine and wanted to continue working within healing. The idea of health coaching had intrigued her for several years. She stumbled upon the Teleosis Institute by accident and was encouraged by Dr. Joel Kreisberg to take a class. As she began to understand more about the methodology and practice of narrative healing and to experience it for her clients and herself, she realized that it offered support and guidance to work in a unique way with others that focused on their story and supported their growth. This approach encouraged and supported her own growth at a deep level, something that she had rarely experienced in a medical context. She is presently working with Dr. Kreisberg to provide Lifestyle Medicine Education to their students and clients. Ruth lives and works in Berkeley, California with her husband of 34 years and enjoys garden design, growing food, cooking, spending time outdoors and travel. “I am on a mission to optimize my own health as I age.”

Deanna Jimenez, Board of Directors, is another outstanding team member, bringing her experience with behavioral health to Teleosis Institute. She is a compassionate, resourceful, client-centered therapist with expertise in helping people to create more satisfying relationships that lead to happier, more balanced lives. Deanna tailors her approachto a client’s specific situation, with mindfulness, interactive dialogue, and practical wisdom. She is dedicated to providing a safe, supportive environment for her clients to explore their internal reality, and how it is impacted by external factors. Healing has played a pivotal role in Deanna’s life both personally and professionally. Through living with a chronic condition, her understanding of the many worldly healing modalities has deepened, as she attempts to address the root cause of suffering – physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. In her work as a psychotherapist it is her passion to strengthen the bridge between spirituality and social activism. Deanna finds that the Teleosis mission is aligned with her life’s work. “The program teaches coaches to meet each client where they presently are on their journey and helps them to navigate their unique path of growth and healing. I appreciate how the curriculum introduces a non-intrusive, supportive nature into the world of coaching by inviting client-led curiosity and holistic principles.”

Deanna’s current project is The Wellness Resource – a website with the mission to deepen and expand awareness of our body’s natural abilities to heal by connecting individuals to holistic health communities and culturally-rooted practitioners. It was birthed through her desire to explore alternate forms of healing and find local practitioners. To learn more visit: www.wellness-resource.org
