Mercedes-Benz enters the luxury MPV segment with the V-Class

New Delhi, India, 2019-Oct-12 — /EPR Network/ — A luxury people mover from the Stuttgart-based automaker, the V-Class is their third attempt in this segment, starting at Rs. 68.4 lakh.

With the launch of the V-Class, Mercedes-Benz is bidding high on setting a benchmark in the luxury MPV segment. Available in two variants – Expression and Exclusive – the V-Class will be brought to the country via the CBU (completely built-up) route. The Expression variant is priced at Rs. 68.4 lakh, while the top-spec Exclusive variant will set you back by Rs. 81.9 lakh. Before we get a chance to review Mercedes-Benz V-Class, here’s what to expect.

The V-Class is a completely different take for the MPV segment. The boxy rectangular design ensures maximum utility in terms of space inside the cabin. The front-end of the V-Class is supremely attractive thanks to the wide grille with twin-slat chrome and a prodigious three-pointed star logo amidst. The grille is flanked by chunky projector headlamps with daytime running lamp insert. In profile, the 17-inch alloy wheels while short on size, look modest in the small wheel arches. The boxy silhouette is extremely evident in profile and from the rear. In terms of variants, the lower-spec Expression has been launched as a 7-seater Extra-long Wheelbase (ELW) version while the top-end Exclusive variant is a 6-seater Long Wheelbase version (LW). The ELW version makes do with seven fixed seats, while the LW version gets a unique six-seat arrangement with sliding and flappable second row.

As far as equipment is concerned, the base-spec trim is equipped with dual-zone climate control, 16-inch alloy wheels, a basic infotainment system, and halogen-powered headlamps. The Exclusive trim, on the other hand, comes with LED projector headlamps, electric sliding doors, Mercedes COMAND infotainment system, 17-inch wheels, and 640W 15-speaker Burmester sound system. As for the safety, the V-Class features six airbags, 360-degree camera, active parking assist, and PRE-SAFE attention assist. Under the hood, both the variants are powered by a BS-VI compliant 2,143cc (220d) diesel engine that’s good for 161bhp and 380Nm of torque. The transmission duties are held via a 7G-Tronic automatic transmission. The car takes 10.9 seconds to reach 100km/h from a standstill.
