LONDON, May 21, 2014 -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- One of London's most popular fringe theatre events, the VAULT Festival, is set to return to Waterloo's Leake Street tunnels next year from 28th January 2015. The event will be in its third year, and will unfold over a six-week programme from 28th January to 8th March 2015 with the programme to be announced later this year.
VAULT takes place in a magical venue – a series of disused subterranean tunnels underneath Waterloo Station accessed via Leake Street, London's only street that is legally decorated by ever-changing graffiti. It is in Waterloo, close to the South Bank and across the river from the Houses of Parliament, and is therefore within a short distance of numerous London hotels. The 2014 VAULT Festival was the second incarnation of VAULT and it more than doubled the size and impact of the 12-day inaugural festival in 2012. Over 20, 000 tickets were sold, with guests able to choose from 60 different events across the six weeks; up to 20 events were on offer each night across the seven chambers of The Vaults. Immersive and ground-breaking events included theatrical adaptations of Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas and The Cement Garden, but also featured one-person shows, music, comedy and circus performances, plus much that straddled genres.
VAULT 2015 will again see a similarly eclectic mix of performance disciplines cohere in this unique space for evenings of adventure, discovery and fun. The artistic programme will be available alongside The VAULT Bar, which is open to the public every night, and one-off events - both ticketed and free. The VAULT festival is produced by The Heritage Arts Company, who specialises in creating unusual cultural events, working with groups like Punchdrunk, Secret Cinema the National Theatre.
