“The Star” Earns 4.5-Star Rating for its Funny, Faithful Telling of the Nativity Story

RALEIGH, N.C., 2017-Nov-16 — /EPR Network/ — Faith Driven Consumer, an organization representing 41 million Americans who spend $2 trillion annually, has given “The Star” a 4.5-star rating out of 5-stars. The organization has earned wide recognition both for its Faith-Friendly Film Review entertainment rating system.

Coming to 3,000 theaters nationwide Friday, Nov. 17, “The Star” is rated PG and is strongly centered in a Biblical worldview, and requires minimal parental guidance. As one of the most delightful faith-driven films of the year, “The Star” features an animated and sweetly comic storyline about the birth of Jesus as told through the eyes of the animals present in the manger. Just in time for Christmas, “The Star” unites a diverse cast of animal characters who follow the star of Bethlehem and work together to thwart King Herod’s evil wiles and witness the greatest story ever told.

Chris Stone, Founder of Faith Driven Consumer and Certified Brand Strategist, says, “In the past, Hollywood has sometimes taken license with well-known biblical stories and alienated its core audience. In contrast, THE STAR does a great job of sticking close enough to the narrative of Jesus’ birth—yet creatively adding fun and entertaining extra-biblical elements that will appeal to both faith-driven and secular audiences alike.”

Stone continues, “When it comes to animated films, “The Star” is every bit as enjoyable as “Toy Story”,
“Finding Nemo”, “Up” and other much-loved and successful entertainment products. Congratulations and thank you to the entire team responsible for delivering a high-quality film that maintains the integrity of the story—and is safe for the whole family to see together over the holidays and beyond.”

FDC serves as a key resource for audiences and entertainment industry leaders alike, measuring the faith-compatibility of entertainment offerings and predicting how they will resonate. Faith Driven Consumer’s Faith-Friendly Film Reviews are based on five core criteria: Overall Faith and/or Biblical Relevance; Faith-compatible Depiction of Characters and Character Relationships; Faith-compatible Depiction of Situations, Family Viewing Suitability; and Entertainment Value.
