Food and Drink Gold Rush as ‘Taste of Canada’ Lands in London

CANADA, 2016-Oct-06 — /EPR Network/ — Canadian food and drink brands are set to introduce some of the world’s finest, freshest and most innovative products to the UK market at a bespoke showcase in London next week.

The Canadian High Commission in London will introduce some of Canada’s finest food and drink suppliers, offering UK industry buyers, chefs and influencers a prime opportunity to discover for themselves the “next big thing” to come out of a country with a passion for quality and authenticity.

Mark Richardson, the Senior Trade Commissioner at Canada House, home of the High Commission and Emma Finn, the Trade Commissioner responsible for the agri-food industry, will host ‘A Taste of Canada’, welcoming a wide range of wine and spirit producers, alongside a health and wellness offering that includes new “free from” suppliers (wheat, gluten lactose), nut butters, prime beef and bison along with unique spices.

The Canadian offering ranges from small batch producers dotted across the country to larger market specialists that reflect the diversity of the Canadian business climate and the desire to showcase the country’s very best food and drink here in the UK.

Producers showcasing their product will include:

Oh! Naturals: delicious, affordable and tasty flavoured fruit and vegetable snacks
Canadian Rocky Mountain Beef, all cuts of gourmet beef, as well as a line of Alberta produced grain-fed bison meat
Kinnikinnick Foods Inc. a specialist bakery who focus on the “Free From” market assisting those with allergies or intolerances of gluten, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame seeds and mustard. Their products contain no artificial preservatives, flavours or colours, or trans fats.

Spice Sanctuary: Organic spices such as ajwain seeds, brown mustard seeds, cardamom pods, cinnamon, nutmeg, saffron, coriander & more.

Sedna Nutra: A company passionate about the nutritional benefits of berries from the easternmost province of Newfoundland, including blueberries and cranberries along with Chia seed powders and milled chia powder
Distillerie Fils Du Roy: This family-run distillery based in the maritime province of New Brunswick is firmly focused on being hyper-local in its production of liquers based on blueberries and cranberries along with award winning gin and absinthe.

Pumphouse Brewery from Moncton, New Brunswick, was founded by a globe-trotting brew-master who decided to bring his talents home. Today, Pumphouse offers five different brands of its own finely crafted bottled beer including blueberry ale, pilsner, IPA & lagers.

A Taste of Canada will also feature speakers who are specialists in import protocols for Canadian goods, and will offer a chance for UK businesses to connect with senior members of Canada’s trade team here in the UK for insight and advice. The event comes at a time when current cost-pressures on UK businesses and consumers are offset by the relative value in the current Canada-GBP exchange rate.

This key event in the UK’s ‘food and drink’ calendar will take place at historic Canada House on Trafalgar Square on the evening of 13 October at 6.30pm. This unique evening offers a chance to sample products from firms that are ready to export to the UK while connecting with colleagues during an informal networking reception.
