Aidi Will Host “Walking with the Sun” Charity Concert to Support Children’s Music Education

BEIJING, China, 2017-May-23 — /EPR Network/ — On April 23^rd, 2017, teachers and students from AIDI International School came to Dandelion Middle School in preparation for their Walking with the Sun benefit concert. Walking with the Sun is a charity concert organized by Aidi International School to help Dandelion Middle School, a school for children of rural migrant workers, develop a music education program. The event will take place on June 12^th at the Poly Theatre and all proceeds will go towards supporting’s Dandelion’s music education. As part of this project, AIDI students will build and paint a music classroom as well as host and perform with Dandelion students on the big stage.

Upon entering the dormitories at Dandelion Middle School, AIDI students become only too aware of their own privileges. Boiling in the summer and freezing in the winter, a total of 12 students live in each of these small, gloomy rooms. But despite the poor living conditions, paintings on walls show that children at Dandelion Middle School are still interested in art.

AIDI International School wants to help children of migrant workers pursue their interests in the arts. This is why 1590, AIDI’s volunteer association, have decided to help Dandelion Middle School build a music room, which they will then decorate with a bright canvas.

 

“We always tell our students that volunteering is a meaningful activity that is great for the betterment of society. Rather than being demoralized by the harsh living conditions they have seen, AIDI students only become more motivated to help make a change,” says Miss Zhang, the AIDI’s school society manager. She adds: “The Walk in the Sun benefit concert is open to everyone who shares our values of helping and caring, not just for members of 1590 and AIDI students. We hope to see you there!”

The Walking with the Sun benefit concert will take place on June 12^th at the Poly Theatre and all proceeds will go into supporting students’ music education at Dandelion Middle School. Come encourage them!
