In the coming weeks, millions of families across the country will begin shopping for the long list of items “recommended” on Back to School shopping lists. In large part, the products are made of materials that will last forever(plastic and vinyl), but are used only for a season or two before they are thrown away, and purchased all over again the following Back to School season.

Binders, markers, folders, spiral bound notebooks, pens, pencils, planners, dry erase products – all increasingly made of plastic, and all intentionally designed to be disposable.

 This tradition is creating tens of thousands of tons of everlasting plastic pollution every year.
