Millennial users (born between 1980s to the early 2000s) grew by 30% and Generation X users (born between 1960s to the early 1980s) by 34%.

Eton Institute, a leading international language & professional development training provider, is offering free daily lessons in six popular languages – French, Italian, Spanish, German, Russian and Brazilian Portuguese – through its Social Learning starting on 7th December 2015.

In a research by Taibah University (2015), WhatsApp mobile learning activities make the students become more collaborative and cooperative, which in turn reflects on their achievements and attitudes towards learning. According to a research on WhatsApp’s impact on social learning in European Scientific Journal (2014), the app helps to create a learning community where knowledge is easily constructed and shared with other members through instant messaging.

“The use of smartphones as a learning platform is an innovative way to apply new information, especially in practicing a new language. Social Learning is a fantastic support for our CSR ethos of accessible learning for all,” commented Sue Brett, VP of Sales & Marketing at Eton Institute. “Nowadays, learning is becoming more personal because of people’s accessibility through social media. Eton Institute is very excited about this opportunity to deliver exceptional learning anytime, anywhere,” she added.

The lessons include basic words, phrases or expressions that come as images sent via messages on the free mobile chat platform, WhatsApp. The image will show The Word or Phrase of the Day with its English translation and transliteration.

Paving the way of Mobile Learning through spontaneous and accessible programs, Eton Institute explore the benefits of Social Learning tapping into the convenience of the free messaging app WhatsApp and its popularity to the public.
