The Figo gets a mid-life makeover for 2019, and a new funky Blu variant. But is it still a hoot to drive? Read on.

Ford Figo review

The Figo is one of the most engaging cars to drive in the segment and now with the mid-life update, it gets a cornucopia of features. Is it still as engaging as before? Find out below.

New Delhi, India, 2019-Jul-22 — /EPR Network/ — Ever-since the first-generation Figo went on sale in India – 2010 to be precise, the Figo has done some wonders for Ford in the terms of sales volumes. The sole reason for the success of the Figo was the excellent driveability. That said, the Figo was a car that people loved driving. Come 2019, and Ford has unveiled themed-life makeover for the Figo. We are at Ford’s media drive in Jodhpur to put up an extensive Ford Figo review.

Ford Figo Review

As expected from a mid-life update, the overall silhouette of the Figo remains identical to the previous model. It also retains the Ford Big family grille – and now available in a Blu edition from day one. The Blu edition, in comparison to the Titanium variant, gets 15-inch gloss black alloy wheels, gloss-black roof and blue inserts on the front bumper. Inside the Figo, you are greeted by an all-black interior. There’s also a 7.0-inch touchscreen that takes up the centre stage. In addition to that, there are blue inserts on the door pads, contrast-blue stitching on the leather-wrapped steering wheel and front seats. In our time drafting the Ford Figo review, we found the seats to be extremely supportive and comfortable over long distances.

Under the bonnet, the Figo is powered by a range of engine and gearbox options. In our Figo review, we tested out the manuals. First up is the diesel motor – a 1.5-litre mill that is capable of churning out 99bhp and 215Nm of peak torque. Right from the get-go, this motor feels extremely refined and punchy. The car rides extremely well, and there are no jiggles even at three-digit speeds. The steering feel is immaculate, plus there’s a lot of feedback, as you would expect from a Ford. Now, it was time to test the 1.2-litre three-cylinder dragon petrol engine that puts out 95bhp and 120Nm of torque. This engine is extremely refined, and there is none of that three-pot gruff from under the hood. The acceleration is brisk and there’s loads of torque to play around. The Figo continues the tradition of being the most engaging car in its segment. To read the full Ford Figo review, be sure to tune in to autoX.
