Compex joins Eclipse Foundation

Heidelberg, Germany, March 25, 2016 — /EPR NETWORK/ — Compex Systemhaus GmbH joins the Eclipse Foundation as a solution member contributing substantial parts of its Open Standard Business Engineering Environment (OS.bee), which covers the complete lifecycle of any business application as an open source project under the name Open Standard Business Platform (OSBP).

With more than 30 years of project experience and more than 50,000 users Compex has developed a proven business engineering environment based on model-driven open standards. The Eclipse ecosystem as IDE including a solid technology stack has been chosen to support the new business application platform: EMF, OSGi, BIRT, Xtext, Sirius, Vaadin, JBPM, Drools, Smooks, etc.

“Our vision has been to create a best-of-breed, model-driven, component-based, cross-platform “open standard business engineering environment” for modeling and generating sustainable business applications, independent of any platform or device.” says the founder and general manager of Compex, Christophe Loetz.

Compex embraces the idea of cross-company joint development efforts, making organizations independent of proprietary software solutions. In the past few years there has been already a close cooperation with technology leaders such as Vaadin Ltd. (https://vaadin.com), Finland or Lunifera GmbH (http://www.lunifera.com), Austria. Other companies are encouraged to join in. Becoming part of the Eclipse ecosystem will further strengthen the community of contributors and committers for open standard business applications such as ERP, CRM, SCM, MDM, BI, etc.

“While delivering the base for numerous business applications, Eclipse is mostly seen as an IDE and technology enabler. Projects such as OSBP will deliver the necessary equipment for developing business solutions in more efficient and faster manner.” says Ralph Mueller, Managing Director, Eclipse Foundation Europe.
